Tony Cauchi passes away.

Tony Cauchi passes away.

On behalf of Floriana FC we would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of former Floriana FC player Tony Cauchi upon his passing away at the age of 84.

Tony Cauchi was reckoned as one of Floriana FC’s and Malta’s finest Centre Forwards. During his playing career in the 1950’s and 1960’s, Cauchi scored 125 goals from 159 league matches and another 45 goals in cup matches. To date, the Floriana born iconic forward is still the club’s top goalscorer. Besides, Tony Cauchi scored Malta’s first ever goal in an international match against Austra (2-3) in 1957.

Tony Cauchi won 4 League Titles, 6 FA Trophies, 3 Cassar Cups, 2 Scicluna Cups and the Inpendence Cup with Floriana FC. He was also awarded with a special recognition from Floriana FC in the Floriana FC Awards Night – First Edition back in 2017.

Tony Cauchi as affectionately known “Il-Majs”, will always have a special place in our club’s history both as a player and as a true gentleman much loved and respected by everyone connected to our club. Tony’s son Denis Cauchi Majs was also a former Floriana FC player.

A true Floriana FC legend!

May he Rest in Peace!
