OFFICIAL: Marcelo Dias joins Floriana F.C

Floriana FC would like to announce that an agreement has been reached with Senglea Athletic F.C and Brazilian Wing-Back / Winger, Marcelo Dias.

The club is in process to complete the registration in order for Marcelo Dias to be part of the Floriana FC squad.

Marcelo Mariano Dias is 34 years old and was born in Leopolis (Parana), Brazil. Marcelo started his playing career in his native country Brazil with Aguia de Maraba F.C before joining Maltese club Hibernians F.C back in 2011 were he spent eight seasons with the Paolites. During the 2013/14 season, Dias joined Al Ahed of Lebanon for a brief loan spell before returning to Hibernians. During the last summer, Marcelo Dias joined Premier League club Senglea Athletic F.C were he played 12 matches so far this season scoring 1 goal and producing 1 assist during his stay with Senglea.

Surely one of the most consistent and successful foreign players in Malta in the past decade, Marcelo Dias’ undisputed technical qualities, strong physical attributes and versatility will provide a valuable addition to Enzo Potenza’s squad. Widely reckoned as a born leader, the Brazilian will also provide great experience in Floriana’s dressing room.

During his career, Marcelo Dias won twice the Maltese Premier League and twice the FA Trophy with Hibernians F.C. playing more than 200 competitive matches for the Paolites. Marcelo will join fellow compatriots Diego Silva and former team-mate at Hibernians, Tiago Adan Fonseca as the third Brazilian player in the current Floriana FC squad.
