Floriana FC 3 vs 3 FK Crvena Zvezda.

Floriana won’t make it to the next round of Europa League but today’s performance is a performance that surely made every Floriana supporter and Maltese football follower proud.

It was Crvena Zvezda who took the lead on the thirteenth minute, Dusan Andjelkovic dipped an inviting cross the ball met Richmond Boakye with the former Juventus striker heading past Matthew Grech to give the opponents an early lead. Floriana equalised before the break, it was Juninho Cabral who dribbled passed the Serbian defence, with Frenchman Damien Le Tallec upending the Brazilian striker, the referee pointed to the spot with Steve Pisani slotting behind Manojlovic to earn the draw for Floriana.

After the break Floriana showed brighter intentions however on the seventieth minute Boakye gave Crvena Zvezda the lead after receiving a pass from Srnic. Fourteen minutes from time  Nenad Milijas scored what seemed to be the winner for Crvena Zvezda, however Floriana had better intentions and refused to give up and continued to press their opponents. It was Fontanella fed Vella with the latter low shot from an angled position ended behind Manojlovic to give a lifeline for Floriana.

Floriana continued to press it was Fontanella who with a good cross found Varela inside the area who headed to ball past the Serbian custodian to give Floriana a historic comeback.
