Ten men Floriana hold off Hibernians !

Floriana FC 2 vs 2 Hibernians 

A spirited Floriana side who played more than half an hour with ten men earned a precious draw against Hibernians.

Hibernians took the initiative in the first half , dominating the early stages off the game. After ten minutes Jackson Lima unleashed a powerful drive with the ball hitting the woodwork.
On the nineteenth minute Jorge Pereira Da Silva saw his shot parried away with a brave save by goalkeeper Justin Haber. Jorginho again had a good run , with the latter saw his shot ending metres wide.

Floriana took the lead on the half an hour play, it was captain Nicolas Hernan Chiesa who crossed the ball with the Hibernians custodian misjudging the trajectory of  the ball  with the ball ending behind to give Floriana the lead. This goal resulted in a chaos on the sidelines, Amadou Samb was sent off for Floriana for remarks, Floriana’s president Riccardo Gaucci and Hibernians official Stephen Abela were also sent off.  Floriana managed to hold off Hibernians attacks till half time to end the half time in the lead despite playing with ten men.

After the break Floriana had a good chance to increase the lead with Maurizio Vella , with the latter solo run ending saved by the Hibernians custodian, Hogg. Hibernians got the draw on the hour of play it was a cross by Failla finding the unmarked Jorginho with the latter heading the ball past Haber to make it one all. Hibernians managed to take the lead on the seventieth minute when off a Johann Bezzina cross, Rodolfo Suarez headed past Haber,

But the Greens never die attitude gave fruit, it was Ignacio Varela who releasing himself from Hibernians’s tight marking managed to finish behind Hogg to make it two-two. Floriana nearly took the lead when off a corner Hogg partially saved , with the ball falling into Pepe’s feet with the latter seeing his shot cleared off the line by Failla.
