Floriana FC 5 vs 1 Hamrun Spartans
A superior Floriana side trashed a plucky Hamrun side at the Victor Tedesco Stadium earlier this afternoon.
Coach Giovanni Tedesco had Enrico Pepe and Steve Pisani missing from the starting eleven with the latter serving a one match ban following a yellow card shown to him in the derby. Amadou Samb returned for the Greens after serving one match ban.
Floriana took the lead after five minutes, when Amadou Samb scored the opener. The Spartans replied on the eleventh minute when off a Jake Grech cross Leandro Wallace Motta Dos Santos headed slightly wide. Hamrun had a golden opportunity following a corner by Jake Grech , Luke Grech raised above the Floriana defence with the ball hitting the post.
On the fifteenth minute , Haber produced a great save when off a Jake Grech volley the Floriana custodian produced a great save to deny the latter.
Floriana doubled the score after the break, following a Fontanella free kick the ball hit Luke Grech with the ball going into the net for an own goal. Five minutes later Hamrun’s custodian brought down Maurizio Vella inside the area with the referee pointing to the spot, Nicolas Hernan Chiesa took the penalty and scored the third.
On the sixtieth minute Patrick Jean Teixeira Maia scored for Hamrun. Floriana scored their fourth when off a Maurizio Vella free kick, the Hamrun custodian couldn’t hold the ball with the loose ball falling onto Enzo Ruiz feet with the latter slamming the ball behind the Hamrun custodian to make it four one for the Boys in Green !
But the Greens weren’t happy and scored the fifth goal , it was a Vella corner with Ruiz heading past Tabone to make it five one for Floriana.
