Interview with Jurgen Pisani

During this week in preparation for the game against Gudja United F.C, FFC Media caught up with captain Jurgen Pisani and asked him these questions.

Jurgen on a personal level, it has been a very positive season so far. You are the only Floriana F.C outfield player that played every minute of every match in the Premier League, as club captain. How much does this mean to you?

Yes, this was by far one of my best seasons so far. It’s an honour to be named as club captain of such a glorious club like Floriana F.C and having played every minute of the Premier League so far, it means a lot to me. I work really hard during the week in training to keep my place in the starting eleven for every match.

This season Coach Enzo Potenza entrusted you the role as a regular central defender alongside Enzo Ruiz. Do you feel nowadays, that this is your new natural role having played in other roles in the past?

The central defender role is not new to me as I already played in this position even in previous seasons. This being said, I still feel that my natural role is left-back. However, I feel I have adapted very well to the central defender role and I am always ready to give my best in each position the coach decides for team selection.

During this season you made your international debut against one of football’s international giants Spain. How special was that day for you representing your country and playing against some of the world’s finest footballers?

To represent my county at senior level, it was always one of my childhood dreams. The international debut against Spain will always be in my memory as apart from the final match result it was something memorable to play against some of my idols and competing at the highest level with such opponents.

With the final part of the season looming, Floriana F.C is currently leading the Premier League table. Do you firmly believe that we can go all the way and make this dream come true?

Being the league leaders from the start of the season, makes you believe that the team has all the qualities required to challenge for the Championship until the end. Obviously, this is no easy task because of the high level of other teams but I truly believe in our team and in all our qualities.

Finally your message before next weekend’s crucial match against Gudja United F.C.
This match against Gudja is the first final for us from the remaining nine matches. This kind of fixtures require the maximum level of concentration and fighting spirit to get full points. The team is really working hard together with the Coach and the technical staff to be ready and prepared at our best. I urge all the Floriana F.C supporters to stay behind the team in these remaining matches as our supporters complete our Floriana family and chain.
