Floriana FC 1 vs 0 Balzan FC.
A goal by Kristian Keqi seven minutes from time gave Floriana another important win against Balzan.
Balzan started well in the first half and started attacking Floriana, however, the first real chance of the game came to Floriana when Tiago Adan following a Camenzuli cross delivered the ball to Matias Garcia, with the Argentinean seeing his shot blocked away by Naumovski.
A freekick by Correa ended wide.
Balzan continued to press Floriana when Arthur Faria and Alfred Effiong exchanged passes, somehow the ball met Correa with the latter’s chance ending wide.
Few minutes before the break Balzan were reduced to ten men, it was Augustin Loof who floored Garcia with the referee sending off the Balzan defender, from the freekick Diego Silva’s shot ended wide.
After this chance for Floriana, Balzan had a golden opportunity when Alfred Effiong saw his chance hitting the woodwork, to end the first half all square.
Following the break, Coach Potenza introduced Brandon Paiber who replaced Terence Vella. Paiber was the protagonist when he served Keqi from the right, Keqi controlled the ball before slotting it behind Naumovski with the referee disallowing the goal for a handball inside Balzan area.
Correa continued to threaten the Greens, when the Uruguayan saw his two chances parried away by Akpan.
However, it was Floriana to take the lead when Diego Silva released Paiber from the right and of his cross Keqi slotted the ball behind Naumovski to the jubilation of the Floriana faithful present at the National Stadium.
However, in the dying minutes with the injury time expired more drama had to unfold into the match when Balzan were awarded a penalty, from the eleven metres substitute Lydon Micallef saw his shot ending wide.
