Floriana beaten by St Andrews

Floriana FC 0 vs 1 St Andrews.

St Andrews kept alive their survival hopes with a win over Floriana at the National Stadium.

Floriana controlled their opponents throughout the whole ninety minutes, having the majority of the chances however it was the ‘Viola’ side the come out with the three points.

It was on the fifteenth minute when a cross by Cini met Paiber, with the latter’s shot was deflected by a St Andrews defender.

On the twenty-third minute the ball fell onto Clyde Borg, his chance went over the crossbar.

The St Andrews custodian parried away a chance by Arthur Oyama. A few minutes later a chance by Kristian Keqi had a shot sailing off the bar.

Before the break, St Andrews hit the bar, to end the first half in a goalless parity.

Upon resuming of the second half, Floriana started attacking their opponents when Borg found Keqi who’s chance came off the upright.

However, the ‘Viola’ took the lead, it was a free kick by Matthew Woo Ling who’s shot wasn’t held by Akpan which gave St Andrews the lead in the sixty-seventh minute of the game.

Six minutes from the final whistle St Andrews almost added another, it was Farrugia who saw his chance parried away by Akpan.
