Narrow win for Gzira.

Gzira United 1 vs 0 Floriana FC.

An own goal mid-way through the first half enabled Gzira United to consolidate their third place in the standings.

It was on the twenty-second minute when a cross by Sacha Borg, the ball got deflected by a Greens defender with the ball ending behind Akpan to give Gzira the lead.

On the thirty-second minute a shot by Paiber went off target by a brisk.

Floriana, stunned by this own goal tried their luck through Oyama, with the latter’s shot got deflected on the way by Rodolfo Soares. On the thirty-fourth minute Gzira tried their luck through Garba, with the Gzira attacker seeing his chance parried away by Akpan.

Akpan than produced another important save when he parried away a chance by Mengolo.

After the break Floriana started to gain momentum , and on the seventieth minute a chance by Terence Vella ended wide by a whisker from the posts defended by Haber.

At death, Alex Cini floated a dangerous ball across the face of goal which found no takers and then Haber pulled off another great save on Oyama. Floriana finally surrendered when Emerson Marcelina’s free-kick finished over the bar.
