Old-firm ends draw.

Floriana FC 1 vs 1 Sliema Wanderers FC.

Floriana and Sliema share one point each, as on Friday evening both sides end the old-firm derby draw.

The Greens gather their second point of the second round, following last week’s draw against Ħamrun Spartans.

For Floriana Lucas Vieira da Silva  and latest recruit Brandon Paiber made their debut, and in fact Vieira made his immediate impact when off  an Arthur Oyama cross  from the left the Brazilian striker rose above the Sliema defence to give the Floriana the lead.

Before the break Arias ran down the left, with the latter’s powerful drive parried away by Galea.

Floriana started to control well their opponents, happy with the lead Floriana attacked Sliema but found goalkeeper Galea in shape.

After the break, Sliema started well , with the introduction of Temile who started to threaten the Floriana defence.

Younes Marzouk blasted over the bar as Jefferson’s attempt was blocked by Ini Akpan with difficulty but both occasions showed that Wanderers’ propensity to push down the flanks was causing problems for Floriana.

Another neat move and Sliema equalised. Michele Sansone started the move with a sharp cross towards Frank Temile who completed formalties in front of Akpan.
