Floriana FC 0 vs 1 Hamrun Spartans FC 

Floriana bow out of the FA Trophy as they suffered a defeat in the fourth round of the FA Trophy to Hamrun Spartans.

Hamrun enjoyed much of the possession in the first half ,  it was in the eleventh minute when Hamrun threatened Akpan , when Sebastian Nayar unleashed a powerful drive with Akpan parrying away the danger.

On the twenty-second minute, Triston Caruana tried his luck from outside the area, with the Hamrun’s midfielder seeing his effort saved by Akpan.

Hamrun struck gold on the thirtieth minute when another up swinging cross by Nayar, the ball met Domoraud who rose above the Floriana defence and unleashing a powerful header past Akpan to give Hamrun the lead.

Tulimieri was denied by Akpan when off a Caruana freekick, the Italian saw his effort saved.

The Greens started to press their opponents well, with the first chance falling onto Varela, with the latter’s shot ended wide.

Coach Ugolotti made his first change and brought in Goran Galesic, who has been sidelined from the beginning of the season, the Bosnian replaced Ignacio Varela, the Bosnian was deployed up front.

But it was Ħamrun who threatened on 58 minutes when Domoraud exchanged the ball with Calil and his thumping drive was saved by Akpan.

Galesic’s introduction had a positive effect on the Greens who looked more into the game but still could not cause any problems to Manuel Bartolo in the Spartans goal.

In the closing stages, Floriana laid siege to the Spartans goal but the Reds held on for a merited victory.
