Narrow win for Valletta.

Floriana FC 0 vs 1 Valletta FC. 

Floriana procduced an improved performance following last week defeat against Pieta, yet they didn’t gather any points from today’s derby.

Before the start of the match, Malta Football Association , General Secretary Angelo Chetcuti presented Kane Debattista family the donation colleched through #UnitedForKane weekend organised by the Malta Football Association for the little Floriana supporter who’s going through a rough time. Both set of supporters applauded the Debattista family as a sign of encouragement through this difficult time their family is going through.

For Floriana made his debut Tiago Silva da Galvao who joined the Greens this week.

After a slow start, Valletta threatened Floriana when Pena Beltre’s cross met Mario Fontanella with the latter’s volley ending wide. Before the break Floriana had a chance through a free kick well executed by Juninho Cabral with the Brazilian’s free kick ending inches wide.

After the break Maurizio Vella released Clayton Failla, with the latter’s shot deflected by Steve Borg into corner. Santiago Malano on the fifty fourth minute released Ibrahim Saleh, who unmarked in front of Akpan saw his chance blocked by the Floriana custodian .

Fourteen minutes from time, Fontanella picked Alba but his low drive was well blocked by Akpan.

Few minutes later Kyrian Nwoko saw his low powerful drive parried away by Akpan. Valletta opened the score on the eighty-first minute when Nwoko released Alba with the latter’s low powerful drive gave the Greens goalkeeper no chance to parry away, However few minutes later Floriana almost notched their equaliser when Oyama saw his chance saved by Bonello, the Valletta custodian who flew on the left side to deny the Brazilian.

Five minutes from time, Gavrila showed great dribbling skills to move past two Floriana defenders but his shot into the sidenetting.
