Floriana lose opening game.

Floriana FC 0 vs 2 Hamrun Spartans. 

Floriana had the worst start of the season 2018/19 when they succumbed the first defeat of the season to Hamrun’s expenses.

After twenty-three minutes Floriana had a golden opportunity when Ignacio Varela close effort was tipped of by Bartolo the Hamrun custodian.

Six minutes later Floriana missed another chance through Juninho Cabral when off a Steve Pisani interception, the Brazilian forward missed a one on one chance with the ball ending in a save.

Hamrun started piling pressure on the Greens, a free kick from Gauci met Calil with the latter’s effort hitting the woodwork. On the fourty-fifth minute Alex Cini crossed the ball, with the ball meeting Varela with his effort ending wide.

After the break, Floriana started attacking again when off a Pisani corner Cabral saw his effort ending wide. Hamrun took the lead on the sixty second minute when of a Henneberg cross the ball met Tulimieri with the Italian striker fired a low shot which gave no chance to the Greens custodian.  Varela missed another golden opportunity when his powerful drive ended wide over the crossbar. Henneberg once again threatened the Greens defence with his assist meeting Schembri who had just came on with his low shot ending inside the net to increase the lead for Hamrun.
