Old Firm goes Floriana way.

Floriana FC 1 vs 0 Sliema Wanderers.

Floriana continued their unbeaten run registering their sixth win of the season against Sliema Wanderers this afternoon at the National Stadium.

For Floriana coach Giovanni Tedesco was serving his last match ban before returning in the much anticipated derby against Valletta the week after. Prior to this old firm derby both sides were on equal points.

After ten minutes Floriana had a golden opportunity when off a Steve Pisani’s cross the ball met Mario Fontanella with the latter heading wide off the cross bar. Floriana forged ahead on the nineteenth minute when Juninho Cabral unleashed a powerful lob , the ball hit a Sliema defender following the deflection the ball ended behind Zammit to give Floriana the lead. Both sides then went in exchanging passes with Floriana defending well against the Sliema’s rare attacks. Floriana had the chance on the sixty ninth minute when Mario Fontanella saw his chance hitting the side netting.

Sliema had a chance through Sansone with his  shot ending in a corner for Sliema following a deflection, the corner was cleared well by the Floriana defence.
