Floriana FC 2 vs 0 Hamrun Spartans FC

Floriana FC will join Tarxien Rainbows, SK Victoria Wanderers and Sliema Wanderers in the FA Trophy semi-finals after beating Hamrun Spartans in an entertaining match at the National Stadium.

Floriana took the lead on the twenty first minute when off a throw-in , Hamrun’s defender Vergara seemed back heading the ball with the ball falling into Mario Fontanella’s feet with the latter blasting the ball behind hapless Cassar to give Floriana the lead. Floriana doubled the score four minutes later through Enrico Pepe, it was Steve Pisani who took the corner with Enrico Pepe rising above the Hamrun defence who with a powerful header beat Cassar to double the lead for Floriana.

On the thirty first minute Mario Fontanella released Maurizio Vella who saw his powerful shot parried away by the Hamrun custodian. On the fifty fourth minute Ignacio Varela saw his chance hitting the post following a good run through the middle leaving Cassar hapless.

On the extra time Floriana nearly scored their third through Andre Scicluna which saw his chance parried away by Cassar.
