Floriana register first league win!

Floriana FC 2 – 1 Pembroke Athleta.

It was a well deserved victory for Floriana in the opening match of the season against Pembroke Athleta.

Floriana forged ahead and took the lead on the 11th minute when Senegalese striker Amadou Samb did a solo run on the left wing , he short crossed into the area in which he found Mario Fontanella in which he did no mistakes in tapping the ball in.

Pembroke levelled matters minutes later through Luke Montebello, Montebello concluded a chip following a Paltemio Barbetti through ball.

On the 28th Minute Floriana regained a well deserved lead, it was Pembroke’s defender who committed an autogoal in Floriana’s favour following an Antonio Monticelli cross.

Pembroke were reduced to ten men on 68 minutes when Siraj Arab was shown a straight red card after hitting Enrico Pepe.

Another red card was given this time to Luke Montebello on headbutting Andre Scicluna.
